Getting yourself ready for a night out (Hair extensions London)
You’ve got yourself the full, voluminous look with hair extensions. Naturally, you want them to look just so when it comes to a big night out.
Here are some tips how to make the most of what you’ve got.
Maintaining your locks isn’t difficult, but you will get the most out of your extensions if you’re prepared to keep them groomed.
Firstly, wash your extensions regularly. Three times a week is good, but no more. You want them to be clean, but not overloaded with product. Use a sulphate-free shampoo. Sulphate strips hair of its natural oils and you really want to avoid drying out your extensions.
New extensions will look extra glossy. So that they don’t outshine your natural tresses, just wash your own hair before they’re fitted. Or if you’re in a hurry to get out, try applying texturising spray to give them a rougher texture.
Help boost the sheen of your extensions by applying 2 to 3 drops of dry oil, such as coconut or almond, once a week.
When you’re brushing, always use a soft bristle brush and never after you’ve just washed your hair, when it’s still wet.
To blend in with your natural hair, you can have your extensions trimmed to match your existing cut. Clip-ins are mostly fashioned with blunt ends. If you’re wearing these, you can take them to your stylist and ask for a dry cut with the clip-ins in place to create a really seamless blend. If your hair’s shorter than the new extensions, use curling tools to loosely wave the hair together. As for colour, your clip-ins will closely match your own tones, but you can add highlights and lowlights to create a homogenised look.
To make sure your clip-ins are going to last the night, gently backcomb your hair at the root, where you can then attach the clip-ins. Don’t position them too close to your hairline or too low on the back of your head.
Wearing your hair up, make sure your real hair covers your extensions. By spraying a soft bristle brush with hairspray, you can brush your real hair over the extensions as you style it. If they’re still showing, attach your clip-ins upside down against your roots, so they face the right direction.
